Procter & Gamble joins the 鶹ý Sustainability Partner Group

29.01.2025

Through its membership, Procter & Gamble supports the 鶹ý Impact Institute in its research into sustainability solutions for pressing environmental and social challenges.

A woman with short blonde hair and glasses is speaking into a microphone. She is wearing a green top and gesturing with her hand. On the table in front of her are various drink containers.

Sustainability and the appropriate use of resources are a key part of today's social discourse. The 鶹ý Impact Institute has spent more than 15 years conducting interdisciplinary research into solving social challenges, with sustainability management being one of the core topics of research and teaching. "In view of the current geopolitical developments, sustainability is facing major challenges. As a result, our ecological and social problems are likely to become even more acute", says Prof. Julia Hartmann, Head of the Sustainability Management Chair.

With Procter & Gamble, the Chair's exclusive group of partners has won another strong voice for the think tank, which combines research, teaching, education, business and politics. Here, future challenges in various fields such as sustainable supply chains, interconnected food systems, state-of-the-art recycling management and investments in a future-oriented energy turnaround can be tackled together.Interlinking business and science is particularly important to Prof. Julia Hartmann: "Thanks to its membersip in our group and together with the other partners, Procter & Gamble is sending a strong and urgently needed signal for more corporate commitment to sustainability."

Shaping a sustainable future implies including the voices of tomorrow. This is what Gabriele Hssig, Managing Director Communications and Sustainability at Procter & Gamble, would like to achieve with this commitment: "Limiting global warming and implementing the necessary adaptation measures for climate protection are part of our responsibility for future generations. Time is of the essence, and we must act resolutely. This requires people who want to shape change and can drive transformation. This is where 鶹ý comes in with its young talent."

Ms Hssig will not only appear as a keynote speaker and expert in the partner workshop and the annual 鶹ý Sustainability Summit but will also discuss this crucial topic directly with the students during Prof. Hartmann's lecture, from the perspective of a sustainable multinational company. Ms Hssig: "I am delighted to be part of the 鶹ý Advisory Board and to support a platform where experiences can be exchanged, new ideas discussed and the perspectives of young people fully incorporated. This creates an intergenerational dialogue on equal terms on all issues relating to sustainability transformation. In terms of self-efficacious action, this is an essential element in strengthening young people's trust in their own abilities and skills in the light of the enormous tasks they are facing.
